Who is Ian Stephens?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to his gallery biography, Ian Stephens was born in Gippsland, Victoria, and grew up on a rural property. He studied architectural drawing and art at Sale Technical College, then moved to Melbourne in 1971 to study at the Victorian Artists Society. His training also included a Diploma of Commercial Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His first solo exhibition was held at Young Originals Gallery in South Yarra. The gallery biography describes an interest in recording Australian heritage and a move to Far North Queensland in 1992, where tropical surroundings expanded his landscape subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
